- Hi Everybody--
- Just a mention regarding the amazing fact that in this 80th Anniversary year of the Golden Gate Live Steamers, our very FIRST Secretary of the Club is still very much with us. He was about 19 years old when he started.
- Speaking of none other than "Charles 'Budge' Garbett of Palo Alto, CA. He surprised all of us when he attended the 75th Anniversary celebration in 2011 and just about blew everyone away by the knowledge that our first Secretary was still living. Live Steam Magazine carried the celebration and Budge's visit.
- Today, in our 80th Year, Budge is a little over 100-years old and still likes "Live Steam" ..
- I have attached a photo of Budge and his wife Elizabeth. Here's to a great guy with the hope that he makes it to our 85th Anniversary ! By the way, the Park Department must really like us too, because GGLS has been a tenant of the East Bay Regional Park District for the past 68 years !
