Cutting fluid refers to oil or water based fluids used while cutting, drilling or tapping metal and other material. The use of fluid reduces friction, carries away heat generated during the cutting operation, and extends the life of cutting tools and drill bits.

Jim Glass suggests that WD40, Kerosene or transmission fluid can be used as cutting fluid.
