Obituary
From Live Steam Magazine, March 1980:
- P. R. (Bud) Bartholomew, age 73, passed away on December 18, 1979 in Nashville, Tennessee following heart bypass surgery.
- It was at Bud's home on December 17, 1966 that nine Live Steam enthusiasts met to organize the Mid-South Live Steamers. This was the first such formal club in the southeast.
- Bud was a truck driver most of his working life but became interested in Live Steam while serving as Chief Engineer aboard ship in the Merchant Marine during the war. He was a self taught machinist of rare skill. He built and later sold two fine 1-1/2 inch scale locomotives. His knowledge of and interest in The Hobby seemed boundless and he was always read with Practical suggestions to help fellow members.
- But will be sadly missed by the many who knew him, but the two locomotives he built (both now in loving hands) will be running for many years as a tribute to this memory.
