The Films of ‘Carl Purinton’

(1947—1963)

A two-disc DVD set that partially tells the story of The Founder of the “International Brotherhood of Live Steamers” …

Carl Purinton founded the BLS (later IBLS) in Marblehead, MA in 1932. He was requested by Britain’s famous Live Steamer, “Curly Lawrence” (aka ‘LBSC’) to be a central contact in North America to provide information and act as a clearing house for fellow Live Steamers as well as new hobbyists who needed assistance in getting started in the construction of scale Live Steam locomotives.

The video chronicles three generations of Purintons and many other famous Live Steamers in the Eastern United States. The video runs about TWO HOURS total.

Here are two index sheets as originally typed by Carl Purinton himself, which he had sent to Kenneth Shattock with his films.
