Charles Hadfield, of New Britain, Conn., with his 1/2 inch scale 2-1/2 inch gauge Pacific. This engine has a working feedwater heater (seen on top of smokebox) and is equipped with a Shattock design vaporizing alcohol burner. A single cylinder steampump under the cab deck and a tender hand-pump take care of the water supply to the boiler.

Some five years of spare time and more has gone into building the engine & tender and its passenger carrying flatcar and backyard length of track. It shows a craftsman's love of this fine steam hobby (helped along somewhat by friend Hadfield's Toolmaking experience).
