B&O Grasshopper

Doug Edwards posted on Chasi.org:

The B&O grasshopper engine was built by the late Harry Harvey of Portland, Or. Harry was one of the founders of the Pacific Northwest Live Steamers, located just outside of Molalla, Or. The engine was often run backwards to keep the coal smoke out of ones eyes, or a pipe stuck in the stack to try to get it to go over the engineer. Location does not look like PNWLS.

Obituary

From Modeltec, December 1985

HARRY HARVEY, a pioneer of the Live Steam Hobby, passed away on October 9th, 1985, at the age of 94. Harry was one of the founders of the Pacific Northwest Live Steamers and served as its president until failing health forced him to step down in 1983. Harry will be remembered as a generous person who was thoroughly devoted to trains and the Live Steam Hobby. The loss of his enthusiasm and knowledge will touch everyone in The Hobby. Our condolences go out to his many friends.
