During WW I, Victor Shattock fought in France against the Germans while attempting to build/repair two foot gauge "trench" railways. He sustained shell shock at Vimy Ridge. He was a "CSM" (company sergeant major) in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces (CEF) as a member of the 8th Railway Troops. Victor is in the third row, directly behind the white sheet music, with his left hand on the upper portion of his Viola. Photo provided by Kenneth Shattock.
