Los Angeles Live Steamers
The Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum (LALSRM) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation that was founded in 1956. It was started by train enthusiasts for the purpose of educating people in railroad history and lore and also to further the avocation of live steam, gas-mechanical and electronic railroad technology.

- Generally accepted in the United States is a weight standard adopted by the Los Angeles Live Steamers. This rule is that no axle on a seven and one-half inch gauge train may carry more than 425 pounds of weight. Few locomotives come even close to this figure, but it should be kept in mind when considering construction of more modern types of steamers.

The Los Angeles Live Steamers are a going concern. A recent roster received indicates there is a membership of 40 live steamers that are putting together a track layout in a booming member. By the time this is in print the 1-1/2 scale loop will be completed and in operation along with turntable and firing up bays. The report continues to state that the 3/4 inch and one inch track will be completed early this summer, although the turntable and firing bays for these scales is completed, as you can see by the enclosed photo. When this layout is finished it is expected that this club will have 1,400 feet of operating track, so we shall look forward to a golden spike ceremony in the very near future.
