Laverne Langworthy, age 61, at Lester Friend's track in Danvers, MA, 1939.

Laverne D. Langworthy was a live steamer in the North Eastern United States. He design a 3/4 inch scale Hudson.

History

Laverne D. Langworthy was born in 1877; died 11 Sep 1945; and was buried in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. He married Grace Jane Stevens in 1900 at the age of 27. They had three children: Kathryn Langworthy, Dorothy Langworthy Daniels and Donald A. Langworthy.

Larry Koehl wrote in Mud Ring, April 2014

In the April 1935 issue of The Modelmaker, a small classified ad by L. D. Langworthy of Rhode Island appeared. He offered drawings and castings in 3/4 inch scale for the New York Central Hudson. The offering was well received as this "new", larger scale was just ramping up. A third (3-1/2 inch gauge) rail to accommodate it was to be added to Carl Purinton's track for the annual Brotherhood meet later that year.

Keith Taylor writes:

The 3/4 inch Hudson that was sold by Friends was actually a model designed and originally sold by L. D. Langworthy of Westerly, Rhode Island. Yankee Shop / Friends bought the design from Mr. Langworthy.
