RichardThomas_4664CylinderBlockPattern1.jpg(500 × 375 pixels, file size: 13 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

1-1/2 inch scale wood cylinder block patterns. It has 4-6-6-4 written on the pattern which may be the wheel arrangement of the locomotive that it is designed for. The wood cylinder block patterns shown are referred to as 'one offs' or 'loose patterns' in the foundry business. A good foundry should be able to make these in small quantities in cast iron as a loose pattern. If you want to make a production run, use these as master patterns to create a permanent mounted sand pattern board. Wood is in good shape. It is a split design pattern with two separate halves. I acquired these originally from Richard Thomas in 1999. He had written 4-6-6-4 on these, possibly a locomotive he had built or was in the process of building. Listed on eBay February 2016.
