Summary

This handsome Old Gal, which operates in a park near his home, was designed and built by Elmer S. Johnson, 100 E. 11th St., St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr Johnson began in 1926 to make his own drawings and patterns, later did his own machine work and finished the job in 1931. The locomotive and tender are 14 feet long. The engine is 37 inches high and is equipped with Walschaert valve gear, Wootten type firebox, and superheater units. She has drivers of 14 inches diameter, weighs 30,000 pounds and can pull three cars hauling 42 adults. From "Railroad Magazine", 1939.
