AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2005. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. "Civil Engineering for Outdoor Railroads Volume 1" covers many aspects of building an outdoor railroad for both the hobbyist and the amusement park owner. Although the book is primarily targeted towards the hobbyist who wants to spend time instead of money on the track, amusement park owners will find much of value in this book. Discussion covers super elevation, spiral easements, vertical curves, plan and profile measuring, plan and profile designing, drainage, and many other topics related to the design and maintenance of a track. Many tables for super elevation and spirals are provided from 3.5" gauge to 42" gauge. I have used the same basic principles on 56.5" gauge railroads and on down to N-scale model layouts.
