In the foreground is Ed Loomie's 4-4-0, myself on the center track with my newly finished LIttle Engines 0-4-0-T, and Ken Owens with his mostly scratch build Little Engines 0-6-0 on the far track. This was the first time I had my locomotive out at the Long Island Live Steamers track. The bobber caboose was a school shop project, the flat car built from old bedframes and scrap wood with Nelson Gray trucks. The locomotive was a "Just bolt em together "kit that required a lot more than just filing and fitting. My father took this photo with his 4x5 Speed Graflex Speed Graphic camera and personally developed the image in his dark room at the print shop where he worked at his second job in the evenings.

	The Long Island Live Steamers was founded in 1966 to preserve the technology of the industrial era, particularly steam and its application to railroads. Through the fine art of precision model making, the LILS has built an educational "living museum" featuring operating trains in three different scales. 	Our facility is located on beautifully wooded grounds in Southaven County Park, Brookhaven, NY. Trains of smaller scales operate on 1000 feet of elevated track. The 1.5" scale ground-line operates on 5,000 feet of 7 1/4" gauge track. Steaming bays and a turntable provide the visitor with ~~opportunites~~ to observe the operation of a railroad in miniature. The public is invited to ride the trains on public run days, generally the second and last Sundays of each month from late May to the end of October.
